Lead Agilist

Our Lead Agilist is Andculture's subject matter expert - internally and externally - in Agility. This role improves our ability to deliver value and creates a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Our Lead Agilist consults directly with our clients, serves as a Scrum Master within the organization, and helps everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values as defined in the Scrum Guide.

We're seeking a Lead Agilist with 5+ years of experience. Our headquarters are in Harrisburg, PA, but this position may be 100% remote.

This role improves our ability to deliver value and creates a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Our Lead Agilist consults directly with our clients, serves as a Scrum Master within the organization, and helps everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values as defined in the Scrum Guide.

  • Deliver Agility-focused client engagements

    • Identify and understand client needs relating to Agile education and Scrum practices
    • Define related service offerings
    • Act as the consultant on Agility-focused client engagements, including observing, documenting recommended improvements, customizing workshops, and training our clients
  • Serve as the Scrum Master on one or more Scrum teams

    • Ensure that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum team
    • Implement techniques for effective Product Backlog management
    • Help the Development Team remove impediments to their progress
    • Mentor team members
    • Facilitate Scrum events as requested or needed
  • Coach the organization

    • Create training materials and exercises to facilitate learning - as an example, train on how to create "done" increments of potentially releasable software
    • Be an active participant in the Agile and Scrum Master communities, bringing continuous learning to the organization and our clients
    • Partner with other Andculture leaders to improve how we collaborate together and deliver our work
  • Understand and articulate Andculture projects and clients, the ways our teams consistently inspect and evolve their work, and the impact we are making

An ideal candidate will have most of these skills & qualifications:

  • 5+ years working in and understanding Agile practices throughout an organization
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile coaching role
  • Scrum Master certification (PSM I), strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum framework (example: forecasting, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with other widely successful Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Nexus, LeSS, SAFe, Crystal, FDD, User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing
  • Proven experience successfully leading cross-functional product and software development teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to define and sell Agility service offerings
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences - in particular, the ability to take complex ideas and articulate them clearly
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with growth-minded development
